Rojales
An Area Guide to Rojales
A traditional Spanish town dating back to the 8th century and the Moorish occupation of Spain, Rojales is situated slightly inland of Guardamar del Segura and close to the town of Ciudad Quesada. A typically agricultural village, Rojales owes its success to an extensive system of irrigation channels which provide water to the fertile river valley and were originally set up by the Moors in the 16th century. These in turn are fed by the Segura river which runs through the middle of the town and is diverted by the impressive stone-built Azud damn, also constructed in the 16th century and still in operation today.

Things to Do in Rojales
The town itself has a lively community and is well provided for in terms of bars, restaurants and shops with the Los Palacios area (just north of the town centre) a hub of activity year-round whilst restaurants in the main square offer menus to suit every palate in a vibrant, al-fresco atmosphere.
Everything you may need in terms of amenities is readily available from supermarkets, banks and post offices to leisure facilities, bars and restaurants.
Rojales is famous for its man-made cave houses which were dug out of the rocks in the 18th and 19th centuries. Known as the ‘Rodeo Caves’, these unique dwellings are situated in the hills to the south of the town and many now serve as art galleries displaying traditional local crafts and artwork and are well worth a visit. Outdoor living is well served in the area with plenty of cycling and walking routes throughout the region, an 18 hole golf course in Rojales itself as well as numerous others within a short distance and three local water parks.

Weather in Rojales
Blessed with a climate that the World Health Organisation declare to be one of the very healthiest in the world, the area is noted as having ‘as near perfect an environment as it is possible to obtain’ – high praise indeed! Year-round sunshine and low humidity are a perfect combination and with the Costa Blanca enjoying an average annual temperature of 19o, highs of 40o+ and more than 3000 hours of sunshine over 320+ days, few other regions can compete. Water temperatures average 25o even in the autumn meaning you can take a dip in the Med well into late October whilst daytime temperatures often still reach well into the 20’s throughout December making this the perfect spot to escape the British winter!

We met up with Matt on the Friday morning to start our property hunting. Our first impressions of Matt were that he was very friendly and so easy to get on with and he really listened to our needs. We spent the first day getting to know the area better in which we wished to buy which was essential for buying a property in the perfect location for us. Matt had lots of properties lined up for us to view and we found the perfect one on day two. Matt was very knowledgeable of the area, the properties he showed us and has helped us through every single step from putting in an offer to completion.
We cannot thank Matt enough for everything he has done for us. His cheerfulness, energy and enthusiasm for his job is second to none, What a thoroughly lovely man who we hope to spend more time with on our Spanish holidays.

Thank you Matt for helping us find our dream home and for making my dream of 30 years or more come to fruition.
I know I drowned you in emails, properties and texts but at no time did you complain. Every property we sent you, you did your research, obtained keys and shown us round all the properties we wanted to see.
You also shown us additional properties which you thought may suit our needs.
From the minute you picked us up, to our return journey to the airport, you never left our side. Nothing was too much trouble.

Thank you for two hard days of property searching. I know we were demanding and not your normal buyers, having lived in Spain for many years already, so this was a big challenge for you but with the last house on the second day, you found THE house.
WOW! my face and your face and my dance on the rooftop must have been a picture! Since buying the house (which you made an absolute breeze) and completing within three weeks, we flew out to collect keys, were met by you at our hotel and took us to house then went shopping for the necessity’s.
Since then you have been there for us with any help we have needed and you are always on end of a phone anytime.
